Steve ,travels from work 2

By the late summer afternoon travel is dependent not on a train with the correct destination, not on an early or late escape from the office, not on dreams or memories of sex, not on the loved and enjoyed surrealists texts that have been a perpetual inhabitant of his bag or pocket for the last few months (Breton's Arcanum 17 at the moment), not on the ,material taken home to proof read, ponder and amend. But on the iced latte bought at the Marylebone station halfway point. Coffee, Ice, Desire, in the heat they have become synonymous. For the man sitting across the aisle, the equivalent is apparently the Kellerman paperback he opened with a deep and satisfied sigh. For the woman opposite a constant shifting of bare brown legs and a nervous soft but audible cough.

Then an announcement – "due to heavy rains in the area a land slide is preventing trains from going beyond R…. as a result all trains to A…. will be terminating at H…. change there for trains and buses which will be available…"
